Young people are growing up inside digital environments they do not understand — environments that shape how they feel about themselves, what they believe about the world, and how much of their attention they actually control.

Yet the forces shaping these experiences remain largely invisible. We believe young people deserve to understand what is shaping them.

These are The Elements of Digital Impact.

Distorted Information

What people are shown, and how it influences what they come to believe

Social Triggers

Dynamics that affect how people feel about themselves and others

Persuasive Technology

Systems designed to drive behaviour and capture attention

Together, they reflect three dimensions of risk — epistemic, psychological and behavioural — that are particularly pronounced during the years when identity, belief and habit are still forming.

Making these forces visible allows young people to understand their influence, and make more deliberate choices about how they engage with the digital world.

This requires meeting young people where they are — in language they understand, and in ways that feel relevant to their lives.
